MATEO CAYO
PROJECT MANAGER AND GAME DESIGNER

It's me, Mateo!
Game Designer and Project Manager who has been developing video games since 2021 through academic and independent projects, and who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Video Game Project Management and Direction.
As a Game Designer, I have designed engaging gameplay systems, applied gamification principles, and created mechanics using the MDA framework, all informed by data-driven playtesting sessions. As a Project Manager, I have led multidisciplinary teams, coordinated production pipelines, and practiced servant leadership by focusing on empowering and supporting my team, while applying agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and Waterfall to deliver results efficiently.
I am detail-oriented, collaborative, adaptable, and pragmatic when solving problems, blending creativity, organization, and empathy to transform ideas into complete interactive experiences.
Current focus
Currently, as a Lead Game Designer and Associate Game Producer at Raymi Games, I am helping build a new indie studio from the ground up by defining the game's vision, direction, aesthetics, and core experience. In parallel, I support team operations through Scrum-based project coordination, helping organize workflows, align development efforts, and bridge the gap between creative goals and efficient execution while laying the foundation for the studio's future growth.
Alongside this, I am working at uDocz as a Product Designer. uDocz is one of the leading educational startups in Peru, and in my role I contribute to redesigning landing pages, improving layouts, reviewing bugs, and refining different parts of the platform’s user experience. I feel genuinely happy in this position, as it has allowed me to grow rapidly and deepen my understanding of UI/UX Design, an area I am actively expanding my studies in.

Volunteering

In 2024, I joined SANDA, a youth association dedicated to introducing more people to the world of video game development and supporting aspiring professionals entering the industry. I started as a General Volunteer, contributing to community initiatives and supporting the organization's activities.
Through my proactive involvement, I was promoted to Assistant Event Coordinator, supporting the planning and execution of community events. Later, I advanced to Event Operations Coordinator, taking responsibility for the on-site management of events, including logistics, coordination, and ensuring smooth event execution.
In 2026, I was appointed Public Relations Manager, leading the organization's communication and outreach efforts, fostering partnerships, and strengthening SANDA's presence within the game development ecosystem.
Alongside these roles, I am a member of SANDA's Core Team, the organization's executive board, where I contribute to strategic planning and key decision-making processes. I have also played an active role in shaping the organization's growth, helping drive its expansion beyond Peru into a broader Latin American community. This effort has strengthened SANDA's regional presence, enabled new international collaborations, and created opportunities for aspiring game developers across Latin America.
