It's me, Mateo!

Game Designer and Project Manager who has been developing video games since 2021 through academic and independent projects, and who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Video Game Project Management and Direction.

As a Game Designer, I have designed engaging gameplay systems, applied gamification principles, and created mechanics using the MDA framework, all informed by data-driven playtesting sessions. As a Project Manager, I have led multidisciplinary teams, coordinated production pipelines, and practiced servant leadership by focusing on empowering and supporting my team, while applying agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and Waterfall to deliver results efficiently.

I am detail-oriented, collaborative, adaptable, and pragmatic when solving problems, blending creativity, organization, and empathy to transform ideas into complete interactive experiences.

Current focus

Currently, I am a teaching assistant at my alma mater, Toulouse Lautrec, where I support classes in game production and game design by guiding students in strengthening their skills and improving their projects. In this role, I have helped boost class performance by 10% through direct support in production and design courses, and increased student engagement by 12% through consistent follow-up and mentorship. This experience keeps me closely connected to both the academic and practical sides of game development while contributing to the growth of future professionals.

Alongside this, I am working at uDocz as a Junior Product Designer. uDocz is one of the leading educational startups in Peru, and in my role I contribute to redesigning landing pages, improving layouts, reviewing bugs, and refining different parts of the platform’s user experience. I feel genuinely happy in this position, as it has allowed me to grow rapidly and deepen my understanding of UI/UX Design, an area I am actively expanding my studies in.

Volunteering

In 2024, I began volunteering at SANDA, a youth association dedicated to introducing more people to the world of video game development and supporting those taking their first steps in the industry. Thanks to my active involvement, I took on the role of Events Operations Coordinator, managing the in-person execution of events while also collaborating as part of the executive board, the Core Team, where I contribute to the decision-making process that guides the organization’s direction.

I also collaborate closely with CVA (Compañía de Videojuegos Asociados del Perú), the association that represents the largest video game companies in the country. CVA is an ally of the Latam Video Game Federation, and while I am not formally part of their internal team, I maintain close relationships with many of its members. I frequently support as staff in their events and initiatives, strengthening my involvement in the Peruvian game development industry.
